Dr. Mariola J Edelmann is a faculty at the Microbiology and Cell Science Department in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at the University of Florida. Dr. Edelmann primarily works on the role of host extracellular vesicles in Salmonella infection, including applying these vesicles as a cell-free vaccine and the function of extracellular vesicles in the immune response to bacterial infection. She is also exploring host-directed therapies for bacterial infections. Dr. Edelmann’s work in these areas has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense.
